Spring Awakening

January 30, 2014

This Saturday, February 1st, will be W’Escrime’s first practice of Spring 2014. Details TBD but report back soon!

Many things to look forward this semester: a tournament to be held here(!!) some time in March/April, more recruiting (an open practice to be held next weekend!), and more PREFROSH (Wesfest!), as we wait for the weather to get warmer.

A great start!

November 6, 2013

Despite what this post’s two month belatedness would have you believe, W’Escrime’s Fall 2013 season had a momentous start. Numerous fresh faces eschewed the warm September sun and chose the way of the blade, joining the ranks of the most attractive club sport on Wesleyan’s campus.

Two new fencers on the strip. Alex’s default face. Simon looking all dramatic like.

With the club’s growing renown, we had not one but TWO Argus articles, with one on the FRONT PAGE.

WesCeleb here we come.

(with yours truly, the distracted Sarah, and winsome Alex in the picture of course. I have about 300 copies of this particular publication if anyone wants one.)

The second article detailed the success of the now famed Grilled Cheese Delivery Late Night. 20 fencers, 10 loaves of bread, 360 acres of campus, and the swiftest feet on campus (plus two cars). We raised $600 this time around, with cheese profits climbing every semester. Of course, the cheese will return next semester…

I just googled ‘sandwich money’. I suppose there’s a demand for stock photos of currency sandwiched between bread?

In the last two weeks, W’Escrime has traveled to the far away land of Massachusetts for the pre-Big One scrimmage and the Big One itself. News to be reported soooon~!

Last weekend, we had our second Wesleyan Open! Regional schools and independent fencers of the city were invited to our campus for a little tournament.

Lovely photos from a Wesfest passerby. A spectacular epee bout between Alex and me, with Gordon directing and on the bench.

Basking, baking in the sun

It seemed like a good idea at the time, electric fencing in the sun…

Ye Olde Fencing Team

Ye Olde Fencing Team

Those standing up valiently, left to right: Sarah Lerman-Sinkoff, Philip (????)
Second row: Yanyao Yi, Tong S. (benevolent dictator of a miniscule south-east asian country), Alexander WOOOOOOOO, the petty Gordon Petty, Adele Bubnys
The third, and most seductive, row: Camille Casareno and Adam McGill

Despite the icky winter weather, we gathered for a lovely photo shoot, to commemorate those who came before us…

Way back then

If only we had bowties.
